KUCHING, May 11: Sarawak is becoming the preferred destination for Chinese companies that wish to settle down in Southeast Asia.
According to Shanghai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution Group president Xiao Wei Hua, in recent years, Sarawak government committed itself to the 2030 development goals and has been putting efforts on improving its infrastructure, which provides plenty of opportunity for Chinese companies.
“At the same time, more and more Chinese investors come to Sarawak seeking for opportunities.
“Hereby I would like to thank Sarawak government for providing such a great business environment. Chinese companies felt that Sarawak has a stable and predictable economy where they can achieve mutual benefits with local companies, grow together and build a win-win situation,” he said during the handing over ceremony of the Long San Solar Hybrid Station to Sarawak Energy Berhad at a hotel here today.
Meanwhile, on the Long San Long San Off-Grid Solar Project in Ulu Baram, he said it is a new power supply system tailored for the local community.
He said the project not only provides a stable power supply for local residents and schools, but also in accordance with the requirements of environmental protection and sustainable development concept, as a successful example of China and Sarawak cooperation in infrastructure construction, experiences and practices.
“We believed that as the power station put into use, would strongly promote the region’s economic and social development,” he added. — DayakDaily
