“This initiative will enhance the centresā€™ readiness and functionality for future emergency situations,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting here today.

Currently, Sarawak has 661 temporary evacuation centres capable of accommodating up to 160,819 disaster victims.

Uggah revealed that a total of 5,727 personnel is on standby, supported by 564 ground assets, 1,269 marine and river assets, 25 air assets and 154 supporting assets.

“The Divisional and Districts Disaster Management Committees and monitoring agencies will remain on full alert to respond to any emergencies,” he said.

Additionally, Sarawak Social Welfare Department has stocked up on disaster relief supplies in all storage depots, office warehouses, and frontline bases.
