KUCHING, July 4: The public is urged to remain vigilant against scammers and syndicates fraudulently using the name, official logo, and forged documents of the Department of Agriculture Sarawak to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
In a statement today, the Department confirmed receiving multiple complaints about such fraudulent activities perpetrated by irresponsible parties posing as representatives of the agency.
These scammers are said to be attempting to obtain personal information, solicit payments, or lure victims into suspicious activities under false pretenses.
“The Department of Agriculture Sarawak does not request personal information or payments through third parties or personal communication platforms.
“All official matters are conducted strictly through our legitimate and official channels,” said its director Dominic Chunggat.
To safeguard themselves, the public is reminded and strongly advised to be cautious of suspicious phone calls, text messages, emails, or letters claiming to represent the Department.
Verify any communication or request by contacting the nearest Department of Agriculture Sarawak office or using the official contact channels.
“Report any suspected scams to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), or directly to the Department,” he urged.
Dominic assured that the Department takes the matter seriously and will fully cooperate with the authorities to investigate and curb such fraudulent acts in order to protect the public’s interests.
