KUCHING, March 22: Persatuan Kebajikan Bantuan Komuniti Terpinggir Sarawak in collaboration with Life Event Borneo will host Sarawak Aerobig Day 2024 with the aim to raise funds to assist the marginalised groups in rural areas to have quality early education.
The event’s organising chairman Ryan Jee said the charity event will be hosted in three main districts namely Miri, Sibu and Kuching starting Sept 1 and will feature a host of aerobic activities.
“We will kick start the event in Miri on Sept 1 which will be officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
“The second event will be held in Sibu on Sept 8 where it will be officiated by Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (MPHLG) Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
“The highlight of the programme will take place on Sept 22 in Kuching where the opening ceremony will be officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian,” he said during a press conference here today.
Meanwhile, Life Event Borneo executive director Jeffery Ngui said the success of the same programme last year was seen as a stepping stone for the Persatuan to organise this programme again on a larger scale this year.
“Through the funds we obtained last year, a collaboration was held with the Penan community in Miri to redevelop a nursery (Taska) that has been abandoned for a long time since the Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented in Malaysia.
“This event also aims to increase the public’s interest in sports activities and at the same time make healthy practices a part of the daily life practices of local community members,” he said.
The organisers also welcome the public, corporate members, ministries, and government departments to support this event, especially in terms of mass participation.
Registration for the event is now open and will close on Aug 1. The early bird promotion will be valid until April 30. For more information, visit http://t2u.asia/e/35045. – DayakDaily
