Samarahan Academy clinches PETRONAS Youth Football Under-10 title

KUCHING, Aug 2: Samarahan Academy emerged as the champion of the PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament (PYFCT) Boys Under-10 after beating Basic Soccer Development 2-1 on penalties following a 20-minute draw in the final at the KDFA Synthetic Football Field, Taman Sourabaya, today.

The two-day tournament, held from Aug 1 to 2, attracted 15 teams of players aged 10 and under from across the region, providing these young footballers with an excellent opportunity to showcase their skills.

Samarahan Academy took home the championship trophy and RM500 prize money, while Basic Soccer Development finished as first runner-up and received RM300.

Axis Kids Academy claimed third place and RM200 after defeating Pusat Pembangunan SSC in the third-and fourth-place match.

Individual awards also went to outstanding young players.

Aaryan Rifqi Abdullah was named Top Scorer, while Muhammad Iman Naypal Naspol of Samarahan Academy won Best Goalkeeper.

Additionally, Samarahan Academy’s Ahmad Aiman Naim Ahmad Kazwin was voted the tournament’s Best Player after an impressive performance throughout the competition.

The prize-giving ceremony was presided over by TVS Head of General Services Ahmad Afizal Zainoren, who PETRONAS Sarawak Senior Manager Nor Azam Abg Zawawie accompanied.

The tournament highlighted the growing standard of youth football in Sarawak and provided valuable match experience for the next generation of football talents. — DayakDaily
