KUCHING, Aug 2: A 23-door longhouse at Jalan Bintulu–Miri, Samalaju— Rumah Padang Batu 37—was destroyed in a fire that occurred today.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 4.31pm, and firefighters from the Samalaju station were deployed.

Upon arrival, the operations commander reported that the fire involved a 23-door non-permanent longhouse measuring approximately 200 ft by 400 ft, which was completely engulfed in flames.
The fire did not involve any victims, as all 125 occupants were reported safe.
The fire has been brought under control, and overhaul works are being carried out. — DayakDaily
