KOTA SAMARAHAN, Aug 18: The management of Salcra Jaya Sdn Bhd does not and will not condone any illegal act or activities by any of its employees.

In a statement today, its Chief Operating Officer Grover Peter Gani said it would let the police carry out their investigation professionally and independently on a recent case involving one of its trailer drivers.

The 34-year-old driver was arrested by the police at a roadblock at the Serian-Sri Aman Road on August 12 after he was alleged to be transporting four illegal immigrants in the vehicle cabin.

The four, aged between 27 to 48, had all failed to produce any valid travel documents when checked.

The driver is currently being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.

Grover said Salcra Jaya’s management too would conduct its own internal investigation.

“I hope with my explanation, the public will not speculate on the matter.

“Let us allow the police do their investigation thoroughly,” he said. — DayakDaily
