KUCHING, July 5: Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Salahuddin Ayub gave his assurance that regardless of the Sarawak government’s political stand, his ministry will help the state to become an agriculture and agro-based industries powerhouse in the country.

Speaking during Parti Amanah Negara’s (Amanah) Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri at its new headquarters in Matang here Thursday night, Salahuddin, who is also Amanah deputy president, said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government would be bipartisan in its approach to ensure Sarawakians would not be left out when it comes to development, particularly in agriculture and agro-based industries.

“This is the kind of politics that we are envisioning because we have been independent for over half a century. Together we make Sarawak, a state within the Federation of Malaysia, together with Sabah, prosperous and together we will reap the benefits and wealth of our own land,” he said.

Salahuddin also reminded Sarawakians to see past race and religion, as well as disregard the difference between the Peninsula and Sarawak because the new PH government will ensure that Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Federal Constitution would be preserved and protected.

“We should not let the term ‘Semenanjung’ and ‘Sarawak’ or ‘Sabah’ segregate us. We have a new government under PH, and we will stand and fight for the betterment of the next generation regardless of who you are,” he said.

Earlier, Salahuddin officiated at Amanah’s new Sarawak headquarters at The Hub, Matang.
