KUCHING, Sept 4: SACOFA, Sarawak’s leading telecommunications infrastructure provider, has partnered with ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leader in integrated information and communication technology solutions, to modernise its telecommunication infrastructure network.
According to a media release, the upgraded system delivers scalable, ultra-broadband capacity powered by full-band Optical Transport Network (OTN) technologies capable of 1.6 Terabyte throughput, augmented with intelligent, AI-driven network control to ensure superior reliability and spectrum efficiency.
At the core transport level, the network benefits from ZTE’s 6-in-1 EDN (Enhanced Deterministic Networking) processor, which supports high-speed forwarding with guaranteed low latency and jitter-resilient performance for real-time applications.
These advancements not only strengthen scalable bandwidth delivery but also enhance service-level performance and optimise operational efficiency.

The initiative represents a milestone in Sarawak’s connectivity roadmap as SACOFA upgrades its core transport, routing, and optical layers with ZTE’s advanced solutions, building a resilient foundation for long-term network availability and performance.
SACOFA managing director Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman B Abdul Taib expressed confidence that this partnership will bring the company closer to the Sarawak government’s vision of Post-Covid Development (PCDS) 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Blueprint 2030.
“By modernising the network infrastructure, SACOFA is positioned to transform increased capacity and reliability into economic growth and enhanced operational readiness. Today, SACOFA marks a pivotal point in its digital transformation journey,” he said.
ZTE Malaysia managing director Steven Ge added: “This partnership combines SACOFA’s strong local infrastructure expertise with ZTE’s global innovation in core and optical transport technologies. Through this collaboration, we are delivering a future-proof digital backbone that enables 5G, cloud, and AI-driven services, supporting Sarawak’s 2030 vision for a dynamic, inclusive digital economy.” — DayakDaily
