KUCHING, Aug 19: Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Mahbub Mustofa Norsalim has been appointed as the new head of Sarawak Special Branch, marking his fifth posting in the State where he has already served more than 16 years throughout his policing career.
The official handing-over of duties ceremony was held yesterday (Aug 18) at the Senior Officers’ Mess Hall, Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), witnessed by Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata, TVS reported.
Mahbub took over from SAC Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah, who has been promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and will serve as Principal Assistant Director of E6 Special Branch, Bukit Aman.
Also present at the ceremony was Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak.
According to a statement by Sarawak Police on its Facebook page, Mahbub is no stranger to Sarawak, having started his service at IPK Sarawak in 1995 before being posted to Limbang District Police Headquarters (IPD) and later Miri IPD.
Among the key positions he has held include Assistant Director of E8A Bukit Aman, Deputy Chief of Special Branch (Management and Coordination) for Sarawak Contingent, as well as Deputy Chief of Special Branch II for Perak Contingent.
He had also previously served as Deputy Chief of Special Branch in Sarawak twice, under the Intelligence and Operations Division and later under Management and Coordination. — DayakDaily
