Sabahan artiste among performances to look forward to at Borneo Cultural Festival’s Int’l Night

SIBU, April 27: This year’s Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) will be held from July 14 to 23 at the town square here together with the Trade and Exhibition (TRADEX) programme.

“Our main attraction will be the international night on July 22. A famous artist from Sabah, Atmosferah, will be performing original Sabahan songs,” said Sibu Municipal Council (MPS) deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley at a press conference.

Details for the international night will be revealed in the time to come, he added.

“We are always trying to improve and introduce more ideas in this festival. That’s why for this year, we are introducing an International Night on July 22 specially to spice up the event,” he said at a press conference here today.

In addition, BCF will feature stages for cultural performances, namely the Chinese Stage on July 15, the Malay/Melanau Stage on July 19 and the Dayak Stage on July 21, as added attractions due to the wide range of traditional performances by various ethnic communities.

The BCF gate and fireworks display will take place on the final night on July 23.

“We will also organise the annual Borneo Kumang Dayak Cultural Festival on the final night. Others include the Art, Culture and Exhibition stalls. ‘Itut’, which is a traditional game of the Melanau people, is back again this year which is also a main attraction” Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar added. — DayakDaily
