According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communicationd Unit (Ukas) today, Len Talif, who is Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development and Kuala Rajang assemblyman, said landowners in the area will also be given the opportunity to hold shares.

“The matter will be discuss in details with local community leaders.

“Those who have land there better not sell it. The government will not change the status of Bumiputera land to non-Bumiputera,” he said during the ‘Majlis Ramah Tamah Hari Raya Aidilfitri’ event held in Kampung Seberang Serikei Community Hall on Tuesday (April 25).

He said the government will open up land in Sentebu or develop new housing under the village expansion scheme or the resettlement scheme.

He also said the last time these two schemes were implemented in Sarikei was 30 years ago.

“Now the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has agreed that the area will be developed under the two schemes through the Land Development and Conservation Board (LCDA),” he added. — DayakDaily
