KUCHING, Nov 17: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) supports all races, is colour blind, and will assist all Sarawakians, says GPS candidate for P197 Kota Samarahan Datuk Rubiah Wang.

She also said she is eager to serve Kota Samarahan and bring the people’s concerns and requests to the attention of Parliament.

According to a press statement, a meet-and-greet with Rubiah was held on Nov 16 at the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch.

Local residents and supporters had the opportunity to meet with the candidate to talk about their concerns and needs in the area. Also present were SUPP Stakan chairman Datuk Sim Kiang Chiok and Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim.

Sim urged voters to support Rubiah so that they can have greater representation and voices in Parliament, which will help restore rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) more quickly, and facilitate a more equitable allocation of federal funds to the State, so that the standard of living will continue to rise.

“We do not want to experience being bullied again, and the only way we can become stronger is if GPS wins more seats in Parliament. Support GPS for Sarawak’s stability, progress, and prosperity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hamzah urged residents to support GPS, Sarawak’s own coalition.

“The Malayan opposition parties in Sarawak only knows how to complain, but GPS can get things done, so we must support our Sarawak party because we know what we want and GPS will be able to assist our residents to achieve a better future for all,” he said.

He also called on voters to support Rubiah in order to advance the agenda of women’s empowerment in politics, highlighting that as the incumbent Kota Samarahan MP, she had three capable men serving as her State assembly representatives (ADUN).

“GPS is inclusive of all races and genders, and as a party, we see women leaders, both new and experienced, being chosen by the leadership to help the aspirations of women in Sarawak as a whole,” Hamzah asserted.

Meanwhile, Rubiah emphasised that GPS is a good coalition with excellent leadership which has been proven to be very caring and capable of running Sarawak.

She said that the GPS government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic demonstrated that it was capable of assisting everyone, both rural and urban folks, in the quickest and most efficient manner.

She reminded those present to vote early and urged them to vote for GPS on Nov 19. —DayakDaily
