KUCHING, Oct 18: The village hall of Kampung Lubok Buan has been returned to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for management and routine maintenance, 45 days ahead of schedule.

This followed the completion of repair works by Accura Enterprise costing RM100,000. It was funded by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation for N12 Kota Sentosa.

According to a press release issued today by Yap, the scope of work completed included the construction of two new stores, electrical wiring repairs, installation of LED lighting with switches, and the installation of new versatile fencing with galvanised iron posts, a new stainless steel sliding gate, a brick fence wall, and a single swing gate.

During a simple handover ceremony, Yap expressed gratitude to Public Works Department (JKR) officers Nurizatulsima Abdul Aziz and Mohd Azizi Abdullah, as well as the contractor, for completing the project ahead of schedule.

“YB Wilfred Yap also reminded the residents of Kampung Lubok Buan to stay united in supporting the effort of current Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Sarawak government under the leadership of Premier YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg with his numerous forward=looking and visionary initiatives of progress and development for Sarawak.

“Only together in unity will we rise as one Sarawakian identity to take advantage of all the opportunities and accomplish the objectives of economic prosperity driven by data and innovation put in place under Sarawak’s Post-Covid Development Strategies 2030,” the press release stated.

The press release revealed that the RM100,000 allocation for repair works was insufficient to cover all of the repairs needed for the Kampung Lubok Buan village hall. Village headman, TR Michael Mada, had requested additional RTP funds to repair the village hall’s gutters, roof, flooring, and toilets.

Thus, Yap will submit another application for RM100,000 under his RTP funding for 2024 to further upgrade the village hall because villagers use it as a community centre to organise many important and meaningful activities and cultural programmes.

“YB Wilfred Yap remains committed to improving the standard of living and better quality of life of all the communities living in N12 Kota Sentosa, and will continue to work hard to secure more development funding for the benefit and progress of his constituency,” read the press release. — DayakDaily
