KUCHING, Sept 11: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah continued their ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ tour on Sunday night (Sept 10), cruising along the 1.23-kilometer Nyabau Interchange in Bintulu.
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the arrival of His Majesty and the entourage at the longest flyover in Sarawak at around 7.20pm was welcomed by Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) director Ir Ts Richard Tajan.
His Majesty then signed a memento for JKR Sarawak before posing for photos with Ir Richard and JKR Sarawak senior officers at the landmark.
Their Majesties’ later headed to the residence of acting Head of State Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar for dinner.
Earlier, Bintulu residents can be seen anticipating Their Majesties’ arrival at Kampung Penan Muslim, Batu 10.
Residents from all walks of life were seen waving the Jalur Gemilang and the Sarawak flags along the route leading to the ceremony held at the Darul Falah Mosque grounds.
Ethnic dances from the Penan, Orang Ulu, and Melanau cultures welcomed Their Majesties’ arrival.
At the ceremony, His Majesty signed the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ plaque and presented donations to the ‘asnaf’ (less fortunate). His Majesty also performed the Maghrib prayer at Darul Falah Mosque.
His Majesty’s entourage was also accompanied by Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing and Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Also present to welcome the arrival of Their Majesties’ was Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) Sarawak Deputy Minister Datuk Majang Renggi.
Also present at the ceremony was Food Industry, Commodities, and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom. — DayakDaily
