Royal Brunei Airlines to resume twice-a-week flights to Kuching starting May 1

Royal Brunei Airlines to resume flight operation to Sarawak.

KUCHING, April 29: The Royal Brunei Airlines will resume their twice-a-week Bandar Seri Begawan-Kuching flights starting May 1.

Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the particular flight used to operate daily before the pandemic. He believed this was only the beginning of stronger relations between Brunei Darussalam and Sarawak.

“The airline will fly according to the new procedures set by the Ministry of Health (MOH), which was agreed by the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN).

“In this regard, all fully-vaccinated travellers and children below the age of 12 are exempted from Covid-19 testing pre-departure and upon arrival, while partially or not vaccinated travellers have to take the RT-PCR test two days prior to departure and a supervised RTK-Antigen test within 24 hours of arrival.

“They will also need to be quarantined for five days effective May 1,” he said in a statement today.

With the relaxation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), Lee reminded all inbound travellers from Brunei Darussalam to download the MySejahtera application and fill in the pre-departure form before entering Sarawak.

He said this ensures a smooth and swift documentation process at the point of entry into Sarawak, while other documents required are their Covid-19 vaccination certificate.

“Despite the reopening of our international border, we would like to remind all passengers and travellers to continue and comply strictly with the SOP set by the National Security Council (MKN), MOH and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

“The public and travellers can go directly to their website at www.flyroyalbrunei.com for flight bookings,” said Lee. — DayakDaily
