KUCHING, March 12: The Rotary Club of Kuching (District 3310) is organising a fundraising charity run on May 7 at 6.30am at Cityone Megamall in Kuching.
The event aims to raise funds for causes such as a kidney dialysis centre, cataract operations, international student exchange programme, girl empowerment, library and literacy centre, and mental health and wellbeing.
According to a press release, the ‘Kuching Charity Run 2023’ is a joint initiative by the Rotary Club of Kuching, the Rotary Club of Kuching Central, the Rotary Club of Kuching Jaya, the Rotary Club of Kuching South, the Rotary Club of Kuching Unity City, and the Rotary Club of Urban Kuching.
The press release quoted organising chairperson and past president Dato Thomas Ngu as saying: “We are thrilled to organise this charity fundraising run in collaboration with all of the Rotary Clubs in the City of Kuching.
“We are targeting 5,000 participants for the run and we welcome everyone to join us in making a difference to our community.”
Registration for the run is open to the public until April 13 and participants may register on the event website, https://www.kuchingrotarycharityrun.com/.
The registration fee for the 2km category is RM60; 5km category is RM70; and 10km category is RM80.
Race pack pickup will take place at Cityone Megamall on May 5 and 6 from 11am-7pm.
Early bird registrants will receive two running T-shirts, a finisher medal, and be eligible for exciting lucky draw prizes.
Meanwhile, the top 20 men and top 20 women in the 10km category will each receive the following prize money: champion (RM350), first runner-up (RM300), second runner-up (RM250), 4th to 10th place (RM100 each), and 11th to 20th place (RM80 each).
The Rotary Club of Kuching (District 3310) also welcomes general public contributions in the form of cash donations or in-kind sponsorships.
