BETONG, Oct 3: The construction of roads to four longhouses in Betong namely Lempaong Asal, Lempaong Baru, Baru Pesok and Rantau Layang, is nearing completion.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas accompanied by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu had visited the project site yesterday (Oct 2).
The project implemented by contractor Syarikat Pembinaan Megah Jaya is currently in the final stage of implemention.
The project involves Jalan Ijok/Teguyu/Lempaong/Batu Pesok/Rantau Layang/Perdu Spak (Phase I).
Once completed, the longhouse residents will be able to enjoy a more comfortable road access.
Understanding the importance of road connectivity to the residents, Uggah who is Bukit Saban assemblyman held a meeting with the Public Works Department (PWD) and the contractor to find ways to expedite the road project.
Among the discussed matters was another project that will be implemented in the area, which is the upgrading of the road from Jambu Kerampak to Rantau Layang.
The visit also saw the fine-tuning of the design and specifications of the road that will be built, which is expected to go for tender process soon.
Also present were political secretary to Premier, Dr Richard Rapu; PWD Civil Engineer for South Region, Angelia Belly and Betong Land and Survey Department superintendent Moris Nayup. — DayakDaily
