“Through the three major contracts involving road maintenance in Ulu Baram, Middle Baram, and Lower Baram, the government is playing an important role in ensuring that road connectivity continues to be maintained.

“This is important to maintain connectivity to the longhouses and communities in Baram, while we await a long-term solution to the main road issue,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the handover ceremony of the Bailey bridge components by the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) at the Public Works Department (JKR) Bekenu Depot today.

In addition, the Mulu assemblyman said that projects involving the development of over 400 kilometres of roads in the Baram area are also receiving attention, especially the new road from Miri to Marudi and other interior areas such as Long Panai and Long Terawan. — DayakDaily
