MIRI, May 3: In celebration of the 111th anniversary of the revered Tua Pek Kong Temple in Miri, a vibrant parade is set to grace the streets on May 5.
Residents and commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly as several roads will be closed to accommodate the festivities.
The road closure will commence from 5pm on May 5.
The parade, which will commence from the iconic Miri Tua Pek Kong Temple near the former Fish Market, will necessitate the closure of various roads along its route.
According to Miri District police headquarters (IPD), the affected areas include Miri Tua Pek Kong Temple, Bulatan Kenyalang, Jalan Bendahara, Nakhoda Gambar traffic light, Sin Liang junction, South Yu Seng Road, Mega Traffic Light, North Yu Seng road, Simpang Jalan Merpati, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kingsway, Jalan Melayu, Jalan Melayu Traffic light, Jalan Kubu Traffic light/Marina 3, Marina 3 traffic light, and Marina 1 Traffic light, before looping back to the Miri Tua Pek Kong Temple.
Local authorities have urged residents and motorists to plan alternative routes and expect delays during the parade hours.
Additionally, heightened traffic control measures will be in place to ensure the safety and smooth flow of the celebratory procession.
The anniversary parade promises to be a colorful and lively affair, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Miri’s Tua Pek Kong Temple.
