KUCHING, Aug 26: In conjunction with Sarawak Maulidur Rasul Gathering and Parade 2025, scheduled to take place on Sept 6, 2025, several road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented around Padang Merdeka, Kuching.
The event, which will commence at 6.30am is expected to draw large crowds, prompting the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to take proactive measures to ensure smooth preparations and traffic flow.
As part of the setup process for the main stage and tent installation, road closures will be enforced from Aug 27, 2025 (10.00 am) until Sept 8, 2025 (5.00pm). The affected roads are the stretch of road from Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg heading towards Jalan McDougall, and from Jalan McDougall to Padang Merdeka.
PDRM has advised motorists and attendees to plan their journeys ahead of time and to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. In addition, the public is reminded not to park their vehicles along the roadside, especially in areas surrounding the event venue, to facilitate the smooth movement of both traffic and parade participants.
