Road closures around Miri city centre from Oct 8 to 10 for TYT’s birthday celebration, Maulidur Rasul procession

MIRI, Oct 4: Several major roads within the city centre will be temporary closed from Oct 8 to 10 in conjunction with the State level birthday celebration of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud in Miri and the Maulidur Rasul procession.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said one of the roads – Jalan Bintang leading up to Bulatan Kipas/Jalan Kipas – will be temporarily closed for three days, from 5am to 2am on Oct 8 to 10.


A total 11 routes will be affected in conjunction with the two celebrations.

“On Oct 8, three routes will be temporary closed from 5am to 12pm to make way for the grand parade in conjunction with the Sarawak governor’s birthday celebration,” said Alexson.

These affected routes are Jalan Bintang, Jalan Merdu and Jalan Kampung Sukan.

On Oct 10, four routes will be temporarily closed and four roads will be diverted for the Maulidur Rasul procession.

The road closure is scheduled to start at 6am.

The affected routes are Jalan Bintang (to be diverted into Jalan Bintang Jaya 2), the traffic light at Jalan Slyvia, Jalan Setia Raja, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Nakjoda Gampar, the Jalan Merbau traffic light, the Jalan Sehati traffic light and a junction leading from Jalan Permaisuri to Bulatan Kipas.

The public is urged to use other alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
