KUCHING, March 24: A total of RM43,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants was allocated to six villages and houses of worship in the Tasik Biru constituency on March 23.

According to TVS, Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep stated that the MRP grants demonstrated the continued support of the Sarawak government in empowering the socio-economic development of the local population, as well as contributing to the development of areas within the constituency.

He also expressed hope that the MRP grant would be used effectively, especially to carry out projects or activities, particularly during this festive season.

“Contributions like this are something we provide every year in conjunction with the Hari Raya celebrations, and sometimes also during Hari Raya Korban and when breaking fast during Ramadan.

“This year, we channelled the grants through the village security and development committees (JKKK) so that JKKK could collaborate with the mosques or surau in the villages to ensure that no head of household (KIR) is left out from participating in the activities provided,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Majlis Iftar Ramadan Depo Bau 2025 event in Bau on March 23.

The three villages that received the MRP grant were Kampung Melayu Bau, Kampung Pengkalan Bau, and Kampung Buso.

Meanwhile, the three houses of worship that received the MRP grants included Surau As-Syakirin Kem Puncak Permai, Surau Darul Taqwa Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Bau, and Surau Al-Muqarrabin Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Bau.

After the MRP grant handover ceremony, Henry also distributed bubur lambuk and spent time socialising with the Bau community at the Depo Bau Ramadan Bazaar. — DayakDaily
