According to a news report published today by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Batang Lupar MP Mohamad Shahfizan Kepli stated that the progress on the bridge was informed by the Public Works Department (JKR) in a meeting with Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas on Jan 9.
“In a meeting with the Deputy Premier of Sarawak on Jan 9, JKR presented a report on the progress of this bridge which is 60.93 per cent complete and is expected to be fully completed on Aug 15, 2024,” said Mohamad Shahfizan in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Jan 25).
He continued by stating that the construction of the bridge is proceeding rapidly.
“The construction of the Batang Saribas bridge is worth RM375,500,000, the entire cost of which is financed by the Sarawak government.
“This bridge began construction on June 3, 2019 and its implementation was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“However, the construction works are now back in full swing,” he added.
In addition, Mohamad Shahfizan emphasised that when the bridge is completed in the future, it will reduce travel times without the need for a ferry service. — DayakDaily
