KUCHING, Feb 24: Jalan Pasi to Tanjung Manis as well as the Batang Rajang Bridge construction projects worth more than RM321 million are currently underway and are expected to be completed in March 2024.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development (Infrastructure Development) Aidel Lariwoo said the overall implementation status of the project currently stands at about 45 per cent.
“The two main components in this project are the construction of a 17km road and the construction of the Batang Rajang Bridge,” he said in a press conference held after a briefing session on the Sarikei division development project under the supervision of Sarikei Public Works Department (JKR) on Tuesday (Feb 22).
Aidil also he is satisfied with the progress of the development project in the Sarikei Division and congratulated JKR Sarikei for implementing the projects according to the contract stipulations despite the delay during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
The 17km road project is being built is according to the R3 standard and when completed, will reduce the journey from Sarikei to Tanjung Manis to 45 minutes, compared to 2 hours and 30 minutes previously. — DayakDaily
