KUCHING, July 27: Civil servants in the Grade 56 band and below are set to receive a RM300 in appreciation special aid, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced today.
Additionally, Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, also announced a special aid of RM200 for government pensioners and retirees, including retirees with pension, Employees Provident Fund retirees, those who choose to retire but have not received their pensions, as well as veterans with or without pensions.
“I have instructed the Finance Ministry to approve this and disburse the special aid within two weeks from now.
“This initiative will benefit 1.3 million civil servants, including contract appointments, as well as over a million pensioners,” he said during his speech at the launch of the “Madani Economy: Empowering the People” framework in Putrajaya, which was streamed live through RTM social media today.
Anwar expressed his hope that this incentive will motivate civil servants to support the renewed aspirations of the Madani Economy and deliver exceptional public service to assist the government in realising a newly readjusted civil servant wage scheme.
With the review of the public service salary and fixed remunerations ongoing, he gave assurance that the federal government is committed to restructuring the salaries of civil servants based on the financial capability of the government.
“The people need to understand why we are taking this approach. The result of productivity and efficiency of agencies like Customs, LHDN (Inland Revenue Board) have the capability to increase the revenue of the country.
“With the government’s continuous attention, I am confident the nation’s revenue will increase, surpassing our projected target announced last year,” he added. — DayakDaily
