RM3.1 million in MRP grants presented by Asajaya rep to 160 recipients

KUCHING, Dec 13: Asajaya assemblyman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah presented RM3.1 million worth of Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants to 160 recipients in his constituency.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Kota Samarahan Civic Centre today, Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP), said the grant is part of the government’s effort to empower organisations and associations for the benefit of the people.

He said it is also to assist the recipients to organise programmes and activities that would involve and foster the spirit of unity among communities.

“This shows that the Sarawak government always cares about the needs of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), clubs, associations, mosques, suraus, houses of worship, and many others.

“I hope that the recipients would manage their grants responsibly. Be transparent in utilising it to avoid issues involving misuse of allocation,” he added. — DayakDaily
