“We are very pleased that the Batang Igan Bridge project has achieved 82 per cent completion, with only 18 per cent remaining,” he told reporters during the site visit in Mukah.

He stressed the importance of maintaining steady construction progress to ensure timely delivery in line with the State’s development timeline.

“We’ve informed the contractor that they must achieve at least three per cent progress every month. With this target and schedule, we are confident the project will be completed on time,” Uggah added.

He also highlighted the role of frequent monitoring visits in preventing potential delays.

“We actively turun padang (go to the ground) to ensure all our projects are on schedule. It allows us to detect issues early before they become major obstacles,” he said.

The 1.4-kilometre bridge across Batang Igan is expected to significantly enhance rural connectivity and accessibility once completed.

So far, the project has encountered minimal issues and continues to progress as planned. — DayakDaily
