KUCHING, March 22: The status of the construction project for the connecting road from Ulu Paku to Ulu Kota, valued at RM247.5 million under the Second Trunk Road package, is currently ahead of its implementation schedule.
“The status of the project is now 20.9 per cent completed, which is 5.27 per cent ahead of the original schedule of 15.73 per cent,” said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas in a TVS report.
He said this when monitoring the project at the construction site in Spaoh on March 21.
Meanwhile, on the construction of the new Spaoh Hall which will begin next year, Uggah said it is to ensure the local community receives comfortable facilities in line with current developments in the area.
“Currently, Spaoh only has one hall that can accommodate up to a hundred tables, and it is time for us to have a fully equipped, larger, and more comfortable hall for the convenience of the community,” he said.
The road is expected to significantly reduce travel time on the highway between Betong and Sarikei towns by about 50km upon its completion. — DayakDaily
