Lawas, March 17: The new Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Awat-Awat in Sundar, which cost RM22.48 million, is 98 per cent complete despite delays caused by a variety of factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) today, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Aidel Lariwoo stated that construction continued despite the Movement Control Order (MCO) and a lack of building materials and workers.
An administrative block, an academic block, toilets, a preschool block, eight units of teachers’ quarters, guard huts, bicycle sheds, waste depots, pump houses, water tanks, computer rooms, laboratories, and furniture installation have all been completed.
“So far we are satisfied with the quality and progress of this construction which meets initial expectations despite facing Covid-19 with many obstacles in terms of building materials and manpower,” he said at a press conference following a visit to SK Awat-Awat on Wednesday.
Also present were Limbang Public Works Department (JKR) Assistant Engineer Mahathir Jokeni and Lawas District JKR Engineer Lee Teck Kiu. ā DayakDaily
