PUSA, Oct 11: RM200 million from the RM1.5 billion allocation under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) will be used to boost development in the Beting Maro area, which has massive potential in the agricultural and tourism sectors.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor hoped that in this regard, members of the community and their leaders could work together to exchange ideas on developing the area.

Speaking during the Maulidur Rasul celebration at Kampung Spinang today, Razaili called on the residents there to seize the opportunity to become agricultural entrepreneurs and improve their socioeconomic status.

“The area has various crops that can be commercialised, such as coconuts, that can generate a good income,” he said.

He added that the village development and security committee (JKKK), Parent Teacher Association (PIBG) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) need to discuss to come up with a strategy to develop the village, especially in terms of education.

During the event, he also announced that the village’s community hall would be upgraded. — DayakDaily
