KUCHING, July 27: A RM2 million grant has been approved for the upgrading of sports infrastructure at the REDEEMS Centre in Singai, Bau to enhance the quality and safety of its frequently used football field and related facilities.
According to Deputy Minister of Transport Sarawak (Riverine and Maritime) Dato Henry Harry Jinep, the allocation will be used to upgrade the existing football field, construct a new running track, and build a grandstand (astaka) equipped with various amenities.
“The REDEEMS football field is actively used by the community, and by providing cleaner, safer and standardised facilities, we hope it will bring satisfaction and greater benefit to all users,” he said during the launch of the 17th REDEEMS Gawai Carnival 2025 last night (July 26). Dato Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, expressed full support for all REDEEMS initiatives and called on the younger generation to preserve their cultural heritage and ancestral traditions.
During the same event, he presented education incentives to 49 outstanding students who excelled in PT3, SPM, and SPMV examinations, under a programme by the Bisingai Welfare Association Sarawak (PPB). — DayakDaily
