RM120 mln in upgrades approved for 6 road sections under Red Line along Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak

KUCHING, Nov 28: Six road sections under the Red Line project along Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak have been approved for upgrade at an overall cost of RM120 million.

Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the six sections are Lachau (Bukit Begunan), Kemena (Bintulu and Bakun), Sebiew (Niah), Tudan (Beluru), Selangau and Balingian.

According to him, the six sections are out of nine applications received and will be implemented under Rolling Plan 5 of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12).

“Approvals given for these sections are based on assessment and urgent needs, while the remaining sections will be applied for in the next Rolling Plan,” he said.

He was replying to questions from Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab in Parliament today.

Nanta said the completion of the project will complement the existing 4-lane 2-way dual carriageway JKR R5 standard Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak.

Therefore, he added, it will also act as an “Efficient Connection” for local residents and expedite delivery of goods for local communities and boost the national economy. — DayakDaily
