KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says the Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS) will finance physical improvement works on schools in the state, which is expected to cost one billion ringgit, according to Bernama yesterday.
He said the decision to use DBOS funds was reached during a coordination meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on rehabilitating aging schools in the state, at a hotel in Sibu last night.
The CM said this while launching the Kenyalang Digital Programme here yesterday.
He revealed that it was agreed Sarawak would initiate the works using state funds first if the federal government does not have enough funds yet.
“We want all our schools including in the interior equipped with internet; we estimate that about one billion ringgit would be needed for that purpose,” Abang Johari said.
