KUCHING, March 30: Sarawakian students enrolled at institutions of higher learning across Malaysia are urged to register with S Pay Global as soon as possible, as the RM1,200 financial aid will be disbursed through the e-wallet.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, advised students not to wait until the last minute, as it could lead to congestion.
He added that S Pay Global is accessible nationwide, allowing Sarawakian students studying outside the State to benefit from the initiative.
He said this to reporters during the Food Bank and Dapur HEP (Student Affairs) programme at Masjid Al-Qurawiyyin, UiTM Sarawak Branch, on March 28.
Additionally, the Tupong assemblyman urged students planning to return to their hometowns to take advantage of the initiatives provided by the Sarawak government.
“We are aware of our initiative, the Sarawak Graduates Return Initiative (IGPS), where the allocation can be used to ease the burden of purchasing flight tickets. However, students are only allowed to apply twice a year,” he said.
He also mentioned that applications can be made through the Yayasan Sarawak app.
Meanwhile, Fazzrudin presented a grant from the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, amounting to RM20,000 for the university’s Food Bank and Dapur HEP (Student Affairs) initiative.
This initiative by UiTM Sarawak aims to assist underprivileged students by providing essential food supplies to support their well-being.
