RM1.29 mln boost for 10 students under Sarawak free tertiary education scheme

MIRI, Apr 25: A total of RM1.29 million has been allocated by the Sarawak government to fully sponsor 10 students under the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES), following a symbolic handover held during the Miri-level Sarawakku Sayang 2026 programme here today.

The offer letters were presented by Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, and witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The recipients, who will be pursuing various courses at Curtin University Malaysia, will have their tuition fees fully covered under the scheme, which can also include living allowances and accommodation.

The total funding for the 10 students amounts to RM1,299,300.

The recipients are:

  1. Aaron Vigory Sugandy: Bachelor Of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Honours) — RM208,400.00
  2. Chloe Wong Ji Yan: Bachelor Of Engineering (Energy Engineering with Honours) — RM134,100
  3. Irdina Qahirah Dobby Ismandi: Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) — RM114,300
  4. Jeremy Lawai Andrew: Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Management) — RM114,300
  5. Kimverly Wilson Maja: Bachelor of Applied Geology — RM68,400
  6. Larrynoel Mathew Mumin: Bachelor of Technology (Computer Systems and Networking) — RM129,000
  7. Rossyah Rosidi: Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management with Honours) — RM178,000
  8. Abang Shahaiman Abang Ahmad Shafiee: Bachelor of Science (Health, Safety and Environment) — RM108,900
  9. Azza Khairunnisa Zul’azman: Bachelor of Computing (Software Engineering) — RM105,900
  10. Dorea Zoe Mening Simeon: Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management with Honours) — RM138,000
