Risda Sarawak receives RM34 million for rubber development programmes

LIMBANG, April 26: Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority (Risda) Sarawak has received an allocation of RM34 million from the government to implement development programmes such as replanting, expansion services, productivity improvement, entrepreneurship, and new revenue development.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, Deputy Minister of Rural Development 2 Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said this includes the rubber replanting programme implemented in Limbang Division.

“The programme implemented in the Limbang Division with an area of 644 hectares started from 2011 to 2021.


“Meanwhile, the replanting programme in 2022 for the Risda Limbang Division Office covers an area of 250 hectares,” he said when speaking at a programme organised by Risda Limbang Division at Dewan Kampung Patiambun recently.

Hasbi further said that apart from the rubber replanting programme, Additional Economic Activity (AET) assistance was also implemented in the Limbang Division, with 90 participants having received the assistance until 2021.

Meanwhile, there are five Women Smallholders Groups (PWPKs) that have been established in Limbang Division, namely PWPK Kampung Terimah, PWPK Kampung Bakol, PWPK Kampung Menuang, PWPK Kampung Bukit Puan and PWPK Languban, Lawas with 30 participants.

In addition, an assistance scheme for mature rubber was implemented in the Limbang Division, involving 87 participants through the Rubber Productivity Improvement Programme (PPG) from 2018 to 2022. — DayakDaily
