KUCHING, July 21: Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem calls on Sarawakians to be united in the fight against Covid-19 by adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) at all times, emulating the fighting spirit of their forefathers in attaining self-government from the British.

“As we celebrate Sarawak’s attainment of self-government from the British on July 22, 1963, and declared a public holiday by our late Chief Minister, (Pehin Sri) Adenan Satem in 2016, let us remember the fighting spirit of our forefathers who fought for our attainment of self-government.

“Let us show our solidarity as seen by all Sarawakians from all walks of life coming together and playing their part in fighting Covid-19,” he said in his Sarawak Day message.

Riot noted that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Sarawak Day celebration this year will be held on a smaller scale.

He opined that the theme of the celebration, ‘Sarawak Gemilang Untuk Semua’ was apt.

Hence, he wished all Sarawakians Happy Sarawak Day and expressed his hope that Sarawak will continue to be blessed as a State of peace and happiness, health, wealth and prosperity. — DayakDaily
