KUCHING, Oct 23: Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development has developed a web-based Care Center Operator Self Assessment System (MyKendiri) to encourage more care center operators to register with the Welfare Department (JKM).
According to its Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, MyKendiri system is a web-based system that can help JKM in the monitoring process of the care centers and it can be accessed by many relevant parties.
“Previously, registration was done manually, but now we are making improvements to not only make it easier for the Welfare Department (JKM) to monitor, but also to make it easier for care center operators to provide information on their operations.
“I hope through the implementation of the MyKendiri System, the service of the care centers will be more structured and controlled for the safety and wellbeing of the residents,” she said during a press conference after launching the MyKendiri System at the Kuching Autistic Association (KAA) building in Taman Desa Wira, today.
Rina noted that currently, a total of 1,861 care centers are registered with the ministry, with 759 of it being residential care centers, while another 1,102 are day care centers.
However, she said that there were still many unregistered care centers, and that is why the community and the local community leaders must play their role by informing JKM about this matter in order for action to be taken.
“We want it to be safe not only for the care center operators, but the residents in the center too,” she added.
