KUCHING, July 31: Kuching air quality appears to be bordering unhealthy levels following an air quality index (AQI) reading of 100 as of 4pm today, according to the World Air Quality Index website at https://aqicn.org/.
Apart from Kuching, the rest of Sarawak showed moderate AQI readings. Samarahan recorded the next highest with a reading of 89.
Sri Aman was the third highest with a reading of 85, followed by Bintulu (83), Mukah (75) and Sibu (70).
Air quality in Miri as of 4pm was moderate, with a reading of 66, while Limbang recorded 68.
As of 4pm, the AQI readings of various parts of Sarawak were as follows:

According to the World Air Quality Index website, air pollution is expected to worsen following predictions of hot weather over the next few days which will cause air quality in the region to deteriorate, from yellow to orange tomorrow, and red alert from Wednesday (Aug 2) onwards until end of this week.
An AQI reading of 0-50 indicates good air quality; 51-100 is considered moderate; 101-200 is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups; 201-300, very unhealthy, and above 300, hazardous. — DayakDaily
