KUCHING, Feb 29: Resorts World Genting has clarified that two of its three casinos were only temporarily closed, despite news reports that they had ceased operations.

Resorts World Genting explained in a notice posted on its website yesterday (Feb 28) that the temporary closure was due to facility upgrades.

“We refer to the recent media articles regarding the closure of Genting Casino.

“In our ongoing effort to improve our operational efficiency and enhance the gaming and entertainment experience for our guests, we continuously upgrade our facilities. This will involve temporarily closing certain sections of our casino to facilitate the improvements.

“Our gaming operations continue to operate as usual,” the notice read.

However, the notice did not specify when the closed casinos would reopen.

As per various news sources, Resorts World Genting announced earlier yesterday that Genting Casino 1 (Circus Palace) and Genting Casino 2 (Hollywood) would be closed beginning Feb 28, as stated on their website. Patrons were also informed to head to the newer and more modern SkyCasino for gaming.

The earlier statement did not explain the closure of Genting Casino’s two gaming zones, which have been operational for decades. — DayakDaily
