KUCHING, April 16: Residents in Petra Jaya and several surrounding areas are advised to store sufficient water ahead of a scheduled overnight supply disruption starting Friday, April 18, at 10pm until Saturday, April 19, at 7am.
The Kuching Water Board (KWB) in a notice said the planned shutdown is necessary to carry out repair works on a damaged 1400mm diameter mild steel cement-lined (MSCL) pipe at Jalan Highfield Light Industrial – Jalan Batu Kawa.
During the disruption, consumers along Jalan Matang (from Kubah Ria to Batu 9), Taman Sri Harmoni, Jalan Sungai Tengah, Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yakub, Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhamad Salahudin, Jalan Demak, Jalan Bako, Muara Tebas, and surrounding Petra Jaya areas — including those under the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) jurisdiction — may experience low water pressure or a complete supply cut.
KWB has also cautioned that consumers may face issues such as airlocks and discolored water during the recovery period after supply resumes.
To help mitigate inconvenience, KWB will mobilise water tankers to affected areas.
Consumers can contact the KWB Call Centre at 082-222333 or send an SMS to 019-8866650 for any enquiries.
KWB apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the public for their patience and cooperation. — DayakDaily
