Remand extended for foreigner nabbed with 10.58kg of methamphetamine

KUCHING, Oct 16: An Indonesian man who was arrested for possession of 10.58kg of methamphetamine and 980 Erimin 5 pills, will be further remanded for five days until October 21 to assist further police investigation into the case.

The 32-year-old man was arrested by police during an operation along Jalan Rock, on October 10, and 10.58kg of methamphetamine and 980 Erimin 5 pills were found in his sling bag.


He also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

He was then brought to the Magistrate’s Court for remand application on October 10. The sevan-day remand period expired today, and the suspect was brought to Magistrate’s Court here today to apply for further remand.

Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof allowed the police to further remand the suspect for another five days, until October 21 to facilitate in the police investigation.

An initial investigation found the drugs to be worth RM 543,700.

The suspect hails from Balai Kerangan, West Kalimantan.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a death sentence upon conviction and investigates under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
