Remaining housebreaking suspects of former national sprinter nabbed

MIRI, Jan 27: Police have arrested two individuals suspected to have broken into the house of former national sprinter Watson Nyambek in Kampung Lusut about a month ago.

The two suspects, aged 18 and 19, were picked up by a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel led by Inspector Fredly Juing in two separate raids here today.

According to Miri deputy police chief, Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol, the first arrest was made at around 8.15am, while second suspect was detained about 30 minutes later.

“They were arrested at their respective houses in Kampung Lusut and Kampung Sungai Dalam,” he said.

He added that two other accomplices, both aged 18, were detained on Jan 21.

Police believed that with the arrest of the suspects, they have solved at least eight housebreaking cases in Taman Jelita, Taman Tunku and Riam.

On Dec 30 last year, at around 1.30pm, Watson’s house was broken into by burglars and several items including two laptops belonging to him and his wife were stolen.

Preliminary investigations revealed tat the two laptops were traded for drugs by the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking. — DayakDaily
