Religious teacher claims trial to committing gross indecency on students

KUCHING, Jan 19: An ustaz or religious teacher who claimed trial to charge of committing gross indecency on his student on Jan 4 was charged with the same crime again here today.

Ahmad Firdaus Yusuf,31, was charged with two counts of committing gross indecency here today.


Sessions Court Judge Marutin Pagan allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM1,500 with one local surety for each charge.

Judge Marutin also fixed February 19 for pre-trial case management.

According to the charge sheets, he was allegedly found to have committed gross indecency by touching his 19-year-old student private part by using his buttock at a house in Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu Petra Jaya, at about 3am, in the month of August 2020.

He was also found to have committed gross indecency on another 18 year-old student by touching his private part at a house in Kampung Panglima Seman Ulu Petra Jaya, at about 8am, in the month of October 2020.

He was charged under Section 377 (D) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term which may extend to two years, upon conviction.

On Jan 4, he was charged with molesting his 17-year-old student in a toilet of Majid Al-Musttaqim Kota Samarahan in June 2019. He pleaded not guilty to this charge.
