KUCHING, Dec 21: Everyone in Sarawak must help to keep the State free of religious and racial extremism, says political pundit Dato Peter Minos.
The former Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy info chief said Sarawak’s racial and religious tolerance must be preserved to ensure continuous economic and social development.
Without racial and religious peace, he added, things would fall apart and troubled times would come about.
“The worst time is during the (general) elections when politicians on all sides used racial and religious issue to win support and votes from their respective communities.
“Even during non-election time, some go really extreme on issues of race and religious,” said Minos in a statement today.
He said Sarawak could never tolerate political tactics which provoke religious provocation and stir fear among the people.
Minos was concurring with the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah’s recent call to stop racial and religious extremism. — DayakDaily
