KUCHING, May 7: The latest video clip for the ‘Biar Bekikis Bulu Betis’ song by Rickie Andrewson will only be uploaded to social media once the ownership issue is resolved with his father, Penghulu Andrewson Ngalai, who is the original singer and composer of the song.
According to Rickie, BMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd (BMAS Holding) had already held discussions with his father and hoped that the issue would be resolved as soon as possible.
“We have already discussed this before the project commenced. My father and I had no issues; he agreed and gave the ‘okay’ for the project.
“Maybe because another video clip with the same song happened to be uploaded, maybe my father wants to be careful,” said Rickie at a press conference today.
Meanwhile, BMAS Holding executive chairman Anderson Dato said they will save the video clip, which was shot in five locations, for now.
He said that overall, over 100 people were involved in Miri, Bintulu, Pengulu Andrewson Ngalai longhouse, and two locations in Sekuau.
“I hope that when this video clip is launched, it’ll perform just as well as the original, which reached 12 million views.
“But for now, this video cannot be uploaded until this issue has been solved,” said Andenson.
Recently, Andrewson made a police report at the Stapang station in Sibu regarding the issue of unauthorised uploads of his song.
In the report, he claimed that the company never sought his permission to use the song.
Therefore, he demanded that the company delete any form of recording and re-recording of the song that was posted on social media or face the risk of legal action. — DayakDaily
