KUCHING, Sept 11: Relatives, colleagues and friends paid their last respects to political veteran Dato Sri Ambros Blikau Enturan at St Joseph’s Cathedral here today.
Mourners started to arrive at the cathedral at about 9.30am.
The hearse carrying Ambrose’s remains arrived at 9.45am, together with his widow Datin Sri Marie Therese Mathias and his elder brother Guntur Enturan, who was also riding inside the vehicle.
After the funeral mass, mourners also took the opportunity to offer comfort to bereaved family members, while Ambrose’s coffin was carried out to the hearse waiting outside the cathedral before his remains were transported to Nirvana Memorial Park in Bau.
The late Ambrose, 70, passed away at Normah Medical Specialist Centre around 8.05am on Sept 9 due to lung infection.
He has served two terms as an assemblyman for Katibas constituency from 1979–1987, and another seven terms between 1991 to 2021.
He had also served in the Sarawak Cabinet as Assistant Minister of Resource Planning from 1987 to 2000, Assistant Minister of Finance (2001 to 2006), and as Assistant Minister of Rural Development and Public Utilities (2006 to 2009).
Additionally, he held key roles within Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) as its secretary-general and a PBB Supreme Council member. He retired from politics at the end of his term before the 2021 Sarawak Election. — DayakDaily
