Recycle your waste during SMC’s ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign

KUCHING, Aug 16: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will be organising a ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign in collaboration with various village security and development committees (JKKKs) and neighbourhood watch committees (KRTs) this month.

According to a statement, the campaign will be carried out at the following locations:

  • Rejang Park car park next to the community clinic from 1-4pm on Aug 20 (collaboration with JKKK and KRT Rejang Park)
  • Basketball court at Jalan Bukit Lima Timur from 1-4pm on Aug 27 (collaboration with JKKK Bukit Lima)
  • Car park opposite Wonderful Café at Lorong 35 Ulu Sg Merah on Aug 28 (collaboration with KRT Nang Sang)

“As a continuous campaign to combat climate change by reducing waste and carbon emission and collecting recyclable items, we would like to encourage residents to separate waste from home and send recyclable items to the designated collection points monthly.


“Cash rebates will be given after weighing the recyclable waste. The recyclable waste collected will include egg trays, newspapers, cardboard, books, used cooking oil, electrical goods, tins, aluminium cans, and plastic bottles and containers,” said the statement. — DayakDaily
