According to Kuching High Court cause list, the case will be mentioned on Sept 23, 2024 while there will a notice of application on Oct 10 and clarification of submission on Oct 17, 2024.

This case is related to the high-profile legal suit where Taib’s younger son Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib and his older sibling Abu Bekir have filed a court case against Raghad and RHB Investment Bank Berhad (RHB) to pave the way for an injunction to be placed over the disposal of Cahya Mata Sarawak (CMS) shares under Raghad, otherwise known as the Sulaiman vs Raghad case.

In the case, the court hearing on May 8, 2024 saw Sulaiman and Abu Bekir being made the administrators of the estates of their late mother Datuk Patinggi Puan Sri Laila Taib and Taib, respectively.

This occurred when Sulaiman’s counsel Alvin Chong submitted affidavits supported by two separate Letters of Administration, certified by the probate office which is District Office of Kuching.

The Sulaiman vs Raghad case has been in court proceedings since mid 2023.

The case has gone through several court mentions due to the submissions of new affidavits, including the application to enjoin the late Taib as one of the defendants which was later dismissed due to his passing on Feb 21, 2024.

There is also the issue whether the case is a civil or shariah one, considering  it involves Muslim property, as Raghad is a Muslimah.

The latest notable twist regarding the case was during the May 8, 2024 hearing, when plaintiff counsel Chong submitted Letters of Administration pertaining to the late Taib’s and Laila’s estates. — DayakDaily
